1. Who We Are

Vikello Words is an iOS application developed and operated by Rafał Porzuc, an individual developer based in Poland ("we," "us," or "our"). For the purposes of GDPR, the data controller is Rafał Porzuc, reachable at hello@vikello.app. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact us at that address.

2. Data We Collect

Vikello Words is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here is what we collect and why:

Data you provide directly:

• Quotes and notes you enter into the app
• Photos you choose to attach to quotes (stored locally and in your iCloud)
• Child names and ages you add to organize your quotes

Data we do NOT collect:

• We do not create user accounts or collect your email address
• We do not track your location
• We do not use advertising identifiers
• We do not collect analytics or behavioral data

3. How We Store Your Data

All your data is stored in two places only:

• On your device — locally via SwiftData
• In your iCloud account — via Apple CloudKit, for sync across your devices

We do not operate our own servers. We never have access to your data. Apple's iCloud infrastructure handles sync according to Apple's Privacy Policy.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Vikello Words offers optional in-app subscriptions. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat may collect:

• A pseudonymous user identifier (random ID, not linked to your name or email)
• Subscription status and transaction history
• App version, device type, and operating system version
• IP address (used for fraud prevention, not stored long-term)
• Device identifier (IDFV — Identifier for Vendor, a random ID specific to our app)

RevenueCat does not have access to the content you store in the app (your quotes, children's names, or photos). You can review RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

5. Permissions We Request

The app may request the following device permissions:

• Photo Library — to attach photos to quotes. Only accessed when you explicitly choose a photo.
• Camera — to take a photo to attach to a quote. Only accessed when you initiate this action.
• Microphone — to record a voice note alongside a quote. Only accessed when you initiate recording.
• Speech Recognition — to transcribe spoken words into quote text using on-device speech recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer). Audio is processed on your device and is not sent to any external server.
• Face ID / Touch ID — to lock the app with biometric authentication. Biometric data never leaves your device.
• Notifications — to send optional local reminders (daily memory prompts, birthday reminders, "On This Day" anniversaries, weekly digests). All notifications are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is used.
• Siri & Shortcuts — to allow "Add a quote" via Siri or the Shortcuts app. Only activated when you explicitly set up the shortcut.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your iPhone Settings.

6. Apple Watch & Widgets

Vikello Words includes an optional Apple Watch companion app and Home Screen / Lock Screen widgets. These features display your most recent quotes on your Watch or Home Screen. Data is shared between the iPhone app and Watch/widgets using Apple's standard WatchConnectivity and WidgetKit frameworks, stored in an App Group on your device. No data leaves your device through these features.

7. Data Export

Premium subscribers can export their data in two formats:

• PDF book — a print-ready document generated entirely on your device. The file is saved to your device or shared via the standard iOS share sheet.
• JSON backup — a full export of your quotes and children data. The file is saved locally and never uploaded to any server by us.

You are responsible for the security of exported files once they leave the app.

8. Our Website (vikello.app)

Our website at vikello.app is a static informational page. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics on our website. Fonts are served from jsDelivr CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net), which operates under a strict no-logging-of-personal-data policy and is compliant with GDPR. jsDelivr does not collect or store visitor IP addresses in an identifiable way. If you sign up for our mailing list via our website, your email address is stored by our email service provider (Beehiiv). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. Beehiiv's privacy policy is available at beehiiv.com/privacy.

9. Children's Privacy

Vikello Words is designed for parents and is not directed at children under 13. The app may store names and quotes attributed to children, but this data is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We have no access to this data.

10. Data Deletion

To delete your data:

• In-app: Delete individual quotes or all data from the app's Settings screen
• iCloud: Go to iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Vikello Words → Delete Data
• Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access — you can request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Right to erasure — you can request deletion of your data (see Section 10)
• Right to portability — you can export your data via the JSON backup feature
• Right to object — you can object to processing of your data

Because we do not operate servers or hold your data ourselves (it lives in your iCloud account), most of these rights are exercised directly through Apple's iCloud settings. For any questions, contact us at hello@vikello.app.
